About Tangerine Farms K-8

Located in the quickly expanding Gladden Farms neighborhood, Tangerine Farms is a K-8 school within the Marana Unified School District and accommodates 800 pre-K through eighth-grade students.

At Tangerine Farms K-8, we believe in high expectations, strong relationships, and creating a learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered. As part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, we focus on being Responsible, Respectful, Safe, and Kind in all that we do.

Home of the Javelinas, our school mascot represents strength, resilience and community.  Known for its determination and teamwork, the javelina embodies the values that Tangerine Farms strives to instill in its students. The Javelina is strong, resourceful, and ready to tackle any challenge that comes its way.

Tangerine Farms K-8 school contains 29 classrooms with three flexible classrooms per grade level. All classrooms have windows to the north or south, taking advantage of natural light and offering spectacular mountain views. Small Exceptional Education rooms (special education) are dispersed among the general classrooms. Two larger Exceptional Education rooms are located together near the Kinder and Pre-K classrooms and playgrounds, where resources can be shared.

The New Campus

The building is 93,000 square feet and sits on 15.5 acres. There are 29 classrooms with three flexible classrooms per grade level, and space for ten classrooms that can be added in the future. Classrooms are approximately 900 square feet, slightly larger than recent MUSD new-builds, and each includes a reading nook.

Built to host a wide range of school events and community activities, the wood-floor gymnasium has a 30’ high ceiling, includes a full-sized high school basketball and volleyball court, and motorized, retracting bleachers that face the music room’s raised platform. The gym will be home to many future special events, games, and activities! Outside, students can play on two large playgrounds, basketball courts, and a full soccer field. A solar-shaded outdoor play area expands outdoor learning space, providing comfort and sustainability.

Tangerine Farm’s Principal is Dr. Zach Singer, the former Principal of Quail Run and Thornydale Elementary Schools. The school’s mascot is the Javelina, which was selected with input from the community. The Javelina represents the spirit of perseverance; it is strong, resourceful, and ready to tackle any challenge that comes its way.

"Working on the Tangerine Farms K-8 school with BWS Architects and Marana Unified School District has been a wonderful experience. It’s exciting to help bring a new school to a growing part of the community, and we’re proud to be part of something that will have a lasting impact for Marana families,” said Fred Knapp, Vice President, Core Construction.
